Budget-Friendly Home Theater Tips

It’s natural to want the best in life. To have the best food, drink, clothes, and electronics is an understandable goal for most of us, but it’s not always attainable. We have to make choices in life about what spend our money on. Setting up your own home theater on a budget is, however, a goal within reach. Electronics keep getting smaller and cheaper; in fact, the average person can now afford an awesome home theater. Making a few different design choices here and there can stretch your entertainment dollars and give you the home theater of your dreams. Here are several budget-friendly home theater tips to get you started.

Increase the Acoustics in the Room

If you are serious about this install, then improve the acoustics in the room. Most homes are made of drywall, which isn’t horrible for sound, but it’s not great either. Homes with brick walls or plaster are awful for acoustics. Buy some light-weight acoustic boards to dampen the sound and put them on the walls. Take it to the next level and have them covered by carpet. However you soundproof the room, you will hear the difference immediately.

Smaller is Better

Great sound doesn’t mean gigantic speakers that take up the whole room. Given that most of us don’t have a ton of space for the home theater, the smaller the better. It’s possible to find small speakers that throw out ample nuanced sound. Technology keeps improving, so start looking and don’t stop until you’ve found a sound system that fits your room and shakes the walls. They exist for every budget.

Skip the Furniture

Don’t feel like you need new furniture for the home theater. Furniture is expensive and you probably already have some. Stick with what you have for the time being. Create two rows of seating by building a platform. Use some plywood and 2x4s to make an elevated platform so people can sit in the back and still see the screen easily.

Have Complete Control

The Internet of Things (IoT) makes it so easy to have the world at your fingertips. Get a universal remote for all the devices so you can control the electronics from the seated position. Install a smart dimmer switch so you can turn the lights up or down too. There’s nothing as frustrating as getting seated and comfy than having to fumble around in the dark to find the popcorn.
